What’s Bucation?
Bucation is the journey of us, Jared and Janine, a Pennsylvania-based husband and wife, who’ve spent most of our thirty-some years on this planet battling an incurable condition of wanderlust. We love to travel and make vlogs, sometimes we even include our dogs!
We formed this site to share our experiences, adventures, travel guides, tips, stories, and unbiased travel guides with our audience through a showcase of informative blog posts, YouTube videos & social media posts to inform & inspire others to travel and help them navigate their visit in the best possible way.
About Us
Our journey began 20+ years ago when we were set up on a blind date by our two best friends in high school, and we’ve been on this roller coaster we call our life together ever since. We started out as kids with no map, no tour guide, and nothing but each other. Of course, like everyone, we faced our share of obstacles along the way. Over 10+ years of dating, we fell apart but then back together and finally married in front of our closest friends and family on the beautiful beaches of Negril, Jamaica.
Now here we are, so many miles, moment, and memories later and we wouldn’t change a single thing because our time together has been our greatest adventure!
Janine has been flying to exciting new places since before she could crawl. She was only a few months old when she took her first domestic flight, and she has suffered from eternal wanderlust ever since because she loves experiencing new places & meeting new faces. Growing up, Janine took advantage of every opportunity to travel near and far. Whether it’s a school trip to Cleveland, Ohio or a girls-only trip to Paris, France, Janine is always packed and ready for an adventure.
Jared spent most of his young life traveling across the continental United States and falling in love with the American Landscape. After traveling to a Wyoming Dude Ranch, where the Rocky Mountains and the High Plains meet, Jared truly began to appreciate a whole new style of travel.
Every day is an adventure with our two Labrador Retrievers
Chloé is our 16 year old yellow Labrador Retriever is cuddly & snuggly but she’s also the most competitive yellow dog you’ll ever meet. Even in her teens, there isn’t a ball or frisbee this senior dog can’t catch. When treats are being dished out, she’ll also be the first in line. Chloé loves traveling, and she took her first road trip at only a few weeks old but her true passion is swimming in any and every body of water she can find – especially muddy puddles! Although her body may not let her do all the things she loves as well as she once could, at 15 years young – this senior dog will still outrun, out-chase & outswim any one of us – she may just need a long nap afterwards!
Coco Chanel is our 14 year old chocolate Labrador Retriever. Like most siblings, Coco is the complete opposite of Chloé. Although Coco loves to chase her sister Chloé in the ocean and fetch her ball, Coco is the most laid-back lab you’ll ever meet as she prefers long naps on the and people (…and dog) watching. One of Coco’s favorite things to do is to watch other dogs and children play. She doesn’t bark or try to approach them. Coco simply enjoys taking it all in while her sister Chloé plays the day away.
