Voodoo Doughnut – 6000 Universal Boulevard Orlando, FL 32819
If you asked us what we were looking forward to most on our recent visit to Universal Orlando Resort, grabbing a bite at Voodoo Doughnut Shop was definitely at the top of our list. Trust us, this place will change the way you feel about doughnuts forever!
Follow along in the vlog to hear our honest review of Voodoo Doughnut at Universal Orlando CityWalk:
Voodoo Doughnut is a one-of-a-kind Portland, Oregon-based doughnut shop, and we first heard about their tasty treats thanks to episodes of Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations” as well as Adam Richman’s “Man v. Food” which aired on the Travel Channel Network. Voodoo brags that their doughnuts are made fresh daily, so after Voodoo decided to launch its first East Coast location in Orlando, Florida – we had to see what all the hype was about!
When to Visit:
Sunday – Thursday: 7:00 am – 12:00 a.m.
Friday – Saturday: 7:00 am – 1:00 am
Travel Tip – Our video was filmed just after opening one Friday morning in May. We highly recommend you visit Voodoo Doughnut early in the AM hours if you want to skip the lines. This is the perfect spot to grab a snack prior to the parks for those who plan to take advantage of Early Admission at Universal Studios or Islands of Adventures while visiting Universal Orlando Resort. Outside of the early morning hours, be prepared to wait in a pretty long line during your visit.
From the moment we set foot inside this boutique doughnut shop, we knew we weren’t in CityWalk anymore. This pink palace from Portland was filled with unique décor and fabulous artwork lining the venue’s high ceilings, chic merchandise, and of course – all the sugary goodness one human could ever want! While Katrina & The Waves’ “Walking on Sunshine” pumped through the in-store speakers, our 80’s lovin’ hearts couldn’t help but instantly be filled with happiness. We made our way immediately to the rotating menu filled with a variety of unique doughnut creations [there are over 50 to choose from] all on display for your ordering pleasure and ready for us to devour.
The retail space itself is strictly that, a retail space for the sale of goods. It’s a location for guests of Universal CityWalk to view and purchase doughnuts and tres chic doughnut-related merchandise. Although Voodoo Doughnut is listed by Universal Orlando Resort as a “quick service location,” please know there are a limited number of seating options inside for Voodoo patrons. However, just a short walk outside the entrance to Voodoo Doughnut, guests will find rows of umbrella-covered high-top tables lining the waterway and overlooking the beautiful landscape of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Here you can enjoy the views of Universal, CityWalk, and have a doughnut or two al fresco.

With this being our first time, we were extremely overwhelmed. The selection of freshly baked doughnuts inside this small space is phenomenal. Thankfully, the staff at Voodoo Doughnut is very patient and extremely kind. We really appreciated their help and guidance when it came to choosing just the right doughnuts based on our flavor pallet. Overall, the service and experience was fantastic from beginning to end. Our associate recommended a few doughnuts for us to try on our next visit – shout out to sweet STEPHEN!
Since we aren’t lucky enough to have one of these fantastic boutique doughnut shops in our hometown, we made sure to sample a few funky doughnuts while we were in O-town. For our first visit, we sampled three of Voodoo’s raised doughnuts.
- Bacon Maple Bar – Raised yeast with maple frosting and bacon on top
- Voodoo Doll – Raised yeast filled with raspberry jelly topped with chocolate frosting and a pretzel stake
- Portland Cream – Raised yeast shell filled with Bavarian cream and topped with chocolate and two eyeballs, representing the vision of the great city of Portland

Unfortunately, most doughnuts we’ve tried over the years tend to be dry, completely lacking in flavor, taste, and creativity, and overall poor in quality which is probably why we hardly ever eat doughnuts. However, that was absolutely not the case with Voodoo Doughnut. All of the doughnuts we sampled were fluffy, fresh, and full of fantastic flavor. If we had to choose one to recommend, it would be the Bacon Maple Bar [with REAL bacon] because you just can’t go wrong with a mix of sweet and salty!
Trust us, Voodoo Doughnuts will change the way you feel about doughnuts forever! If you can’t make it in the early morning hours, DOUGHNUT worry about the long lines as these glorious pastries are totally worth the wait. This pink palace from Portland and its Doughnut Throne are a welcomed addition to Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, and we hope you have the chance to visit Voodoo Doughnut on your next trip to Universal Orlando CityWalk because good things really do come in pink boxes.
