We had the sweetest opening night of the 2026 Broadway Series at central Pennsylvania’s premier performing arts center, the newly renovated Hershey Theatre with TINA – The Tina Turner Musical thanks to our friends at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

A night at The Theatre always transports us to another time. It’s more than just another night out. It’s a night to celebrate art, and in Hershey, Pennsylvania they’ve been doing it at The Hershey Theatre since 1933.

Conveniently located in Downtown Hershey, Pennsylvania and a short drive from the Philadelphia, Baltimore & Washington areas, the historic Theatre is proudly listed in the National Register of Historic Places and its newest upgrades & upcoming slate of world-class musicals, concerts & live performances are not to be missed!

The Venetian-style Grand Lobby is a masterpiece in itself (think St. Mark’s Cathedral mixed with Grand Central Station) welcoming guests with majestic marble, mosaic ceiling tiles & floors of Italian lava rock. After we grabbed our hosted tickets at Will Call, we immediately headed upstairs to the second floor balcony to take in the space and that ceiling!

Here we chatted with a few friendly guests who were just as excited about opening night of The Broadway Series as we were! Afterwards, we began to explore all the venue had to offer from top to bottom. We even spotted some stained-glass windows on the second floor balcony, and a touching portrait of Milton & Kitty Hershey in the basement lobby.

The Theatre itself is breathtaking with brilliant architectural details all beautifully restored with fabulous acoustics throughout! The sweet Hershey Theatre Staff were all so kind & welcoming in guiding us to our seats, telling us fun facts about the Theatre’s history & of course tips for enjoying the show!

travel tip 👉 complimentary parking at Hershey Theatre is *FREE* and our favorite pre-theatre restaurants Hershey Social & Devon are both within walking distance 

Although the Theatre itself seats 1,900+ guests, the space still feels intimate, as if the acts are performing only for you. While seated in the orchestra section on our cozy & newly refurbished theater seats, we found ourselves wondering if we were seated in a theater, or a Byzantine castle? The details are simply stunning.

TINA – The Tina Turner Musical was everything you’d expect from a show about an absolute Icon, explosive & energetic from start to finish. The performance tells the inspiring story of Anna Mae Bullock from a small town in Tennessee to her move to St. Louis where she officially became TINA, her heartbreaking life with Ike & their babies, and her triumphant solo career from Private Dancer and beyond.

The ensemble did a fantastic job of telling Tina’s story, with every gritty detail on display, but Darilyn Burtley’s magnetic performance & versatile vocal stylings as Tina made us feel like we were our ten-year-old-selves on the Tina Turner World Tour. Darilyn is an absolute STAR! The entire cast literally had us private dancing in our seats! TINA was the perfect show to open the 2026 Broadway Series!

travel tip 👉 make sure you stay all the way to the end of TINA because the encore was electric.

When it comes to future performances, we’re most excited for a host of comedians, including appearances from Whose Line is it Anyway cast members and Steve Martin & Martin Short’s one-night only performance. travel tip 👉 reserve a pre-show dinner at Hershey Social or Devon Seafood & Steak where you’ll find specialty TINA-themed cocktails all week long as food service is not available at The Theatre

Below are a few tips to help make your visit to The Hershey Theatre extra sweet:

Accommodations: Add an overnight stay to those late-night performances with a stay at one of Hersheypark’s Official Resorts.

Parking: Complimentary parking at Hershey Theatre is *FREE* and located in a gated lot. We arrived at 7pm for our 7:30 showtime, and there were plenty of spaces available all located conveniently close to the Main Entrance.

Security: The Hershey Theatre has impeccable security, and they do a great job of keeping everyone safe while enjoying the performances. With that in mind, you will want to plan accordingly when it comes to what you need to bring along for the show. Janine did not bring a handbag to the performance, and she wore a simple black dress (no longer available in black) with pockets to hold any necessary items.

Sign at Hershey Theatre detailing permissible bag types, including clear tote bags and guidelines for clutches or wristlets.

Each guest may have one clear bag of any size that is constructed of plastic, vinyl, or PVC. No hardware or decor is allowed to conceal the bag. The bag must be transparent. In addition to or in place of the clear bag, one hand clutch/wristlet/small purse, with or without a handle or strap, and not exceeding 5″x8″x1″ is permitted. Prohibited bags are not permitted inside the venue. Guests with prohibited bags must return their bags to their vehicle and/or transfer their belongings to an approved clear plastic bag before entering the venue.
