No matter where we’ve traveled, the one place that keeps calling us back is Walt Disney World. We’ve been visiting the World all our lives. We make regular trips to the WDW and have been annual passholders for as far back as we can remember. As regular visitors we are continually asked by others “Why do you visit so often? Weren’t you just there? Don’t you get tired of it?” For the record – No, we are not tired of it, yes we are going again, and I’d love to tell you more about why we visit so often. Walt Disney World is more than just a theme park to us. This is a place where magic happens and dreams really do come true. For us, it truly is the happiest place on earth.
We’ve experienced the House of the Mouse ourselves as kids, teens, and as adults. However, we’ve also visited the World solo, with friends, with family, and as adults with kids but our favorite is simply as a couple. We’ve celebrated countless birthdays, spring breaks, Easters, Independence Days, Memorial Days, Labor Days, Halloweens, Thanksgivings, Christmases, New Years, graduations and anniversaries in the World.
Sometimes it feels easier for to navigate the park crowds, attraction queues, and transportation routes of Walt Disney World than it does our daily commute. In result, over the years we have accumulated a lot of otherwise useless information which we aim to share with our readers in a number of posts about the World. Here are a few of our favorite annual events that take place at The World:
- The EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival takes place each spring, and it really is the most floral time of the year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort!
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is another annual event that’s not to be missed. It’s merry NOT scary, and it’s your chance to trick-or-treat your way around Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park.
- No one does the Holiday Season like Walt Disney World. From Thanksgiving through New Years, Disney gets it right!
I know this may sound hard to believe to many, but even after over 100 trips to the World, each and every trip is a new adventure and a unique experience all in its own. Obviously with the luxury of being repeat visitors, we have the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World with a more laid back approach than a typical visitor. Our mornings do not revolve around rope-drop ceremonies, and our afternoons don’t stop for parades, but often times you will find us getting goofy in the parks at 2:00 a.m. – because only good things happen after midnight. (It’s all good until someone looses a glass slipper!)
Many of our favorite things to do at the Walt Disney World Resort don’t involve park tickets. A trip to The World can be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. We love to fill our days with non-park-related activities. Here are a few of our favorite ways to spend the day outside of the (theme park) box:
- A spa day is always a good idea. Whether its your honeymoon, anniversary, birthday or just another vacation day – the team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Senses Spa will make sure it’s one spent purely pampered.
Just as it did when we were children, Walt Disney World allows us to completely escape reality. During our time in the World we aren’t concerned with meetings and phone calls or laundry and housework. In case you weren’t aware, time is not a factor and calories do not count on Disney property. It’s a time for us to completely escape the ordinary, lay back, and enjoy a truly relaxing few days of fun, entertainment, and food! It’s very rare that we have a bad experience while on Disney property, and thanks to their excellent customer service it’s far more likely that we will have a magical one!
There isn’t a disney-owned resort on property that we haven’t been guests of. Each and every resort on Disney property will transport you to a new destination with its out of this world theming, richly appointed accommodations, and luxury amenities. There are so many extraordinary options for every style of Disney traveler. The only problem we have is choosing one.
- Our favorite Moderate Resort is hands-down Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This “Oasis in the Sun” may fall into Disney’s Moderate Resort price point, but with all the amenities it’s more like a Deluxe Resort if you ask us!
We’ve also had the pleasure of eating and drinking our way around each and every snack bar, counter-service location, and table service offering in the World. Disney’s exceptional dining experiences continue to exceed our expectations again and again. From regional wine tastings to chef’s table dinners there is always a new culinary experience we are excited to try!
- When it comes to American cuisine, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort (located in the EPCOT Resort Area) is an old favorite of ours.
- Jiko at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort has consistently proved itself to be a meal totally worth the flight!
With world class resorts, dining experiences, spas, attractions, and exceptional customer service, Walt Disney World Resort is so much more than an amusement park. Where else can you eat breakfast on an African Safari, plummet 13 terrifying stories in a runaway elevator, catch a rocket to Mars, and have dinner in a castle? If you haven’t already, we hope that you too will want to take a trip to Walt Disney World after reading some of our posts. Besides, there’s just nothing like waking up in a place where your waffles are shaped like a mouse!
Have you been or are you planning a trip to The World? What are your suggestions for topics you’d like us to cover future Walt Disney World Resort posts? Do you have any questions about any aspect of the Walt Disney World Resort that we might be able to answer? We’d love to hear from you!
